Forest Play
2018
Collaboration with Razel Cruz, Jane Phan, Leo Williams & Isabella Wilson
This is a final result of three-step Interactive Installation group project -
1) project proposal, 2) prototype and 3) project presentation, which I worked on throughout a semester of Interactive Media course.
This haptic installation aims to offer an imaginative experience of a futuristic playground. As users tilt the suspended wooden disks, the lighting changes colour from blue to green, accompanied with sounds, creating an immersive audiovisual forest.
Synthesising naturalistic materiality with nature sounds and lights, the “forest” is our attempt to offer an one-of-a-kind experience for both adults and kids.
It also explores humans’ ability to establish emotional connection with the man-made - something which still thrives in our increasingly machine-pervaded lives. The poems engraved on the disks are composed by Twitter bots, which may or may not impel users to contemplation.
